Big Wigs 9784 has been released (known internally as v3.9) which is a major (and recommended) update, some changes include:
Core : Improved the event and callback system for better CPU performance.
Core : Re-wrote the timing/scheduling system for better CPU performance.
Core : Added new "pull" functionality: e.g. /pull 10 will start a 10 second pull bar.
Core : Cleaned up the main config display and "configure" display a little.
Plugin : Previously this plugin would only stop messages from appearing in the middle of your screen, but the "raid warning" sounds would still play which was confusing. It now properly prevents the sounds from playing.
Plugin : Now has various customization options (font,etc), countdown has been separated to a different anchor.
Bosses : Added modules for world bosses.
Various bugfixes and improvements across the core and boss modules.
DBM Related:
Core : Big Wigs now has a (disabled by default) feature to fake a DBM version check. This will make people think you're using DBM, which is useful for guilds that force DBM on their raiders.
Core : Big Wigs now has a (disabled by default) feature to grab any custom timers or pull timers sent by DBM users in your raid, and display them in Big Wigs.
Core : Custom timers and pull timers sent by Big Wigs will now be visible by DBM users in your raid, useful for raid leaders that want everyone to see their timers.

Big Wigs is a boss encounter add-on. It consists of many individual encounter scripts, or boss modules; mini add-ons that are designed to trigger alert messages, timer bars, sounds, and so forth, for one specific raid encounter. These encounter scripts are activated when you target or mouse over a raid boss, or if any other Big Wigs user in your raid does. In most cases only one module will be running at any given time.
If you're looking for boss encounter scripts for 5-man dungeons, these are not in Big Wigs, but live in their own add-on; Little Wigs.
